Aquarium Set Up - Week 3


14 August 2005 Sunday	Day 14 The plants are looking more and more healthy. I have removed a couple of the dead leaves. Cleaned some rubbish from the bottom of the tank. Replaced the white filter. Changed about 25 litres of water (10%). I should have added 10ml of AquaSafe, but I made a serious mistake and put in 100ml but did not notice until the water was in the tank! Fingers crossed! Found a dead Zebra Danio. Nearly lost a Harlequin as he swam into the filter box as was siphoning off the water. Seem to be missing one Zebra Danio and one Harlequin. Water Test Results pH 7.6 - Unchanged KH 15 - Unchanged GH >6 - Unchanged NO2 (Nitrite) 5 - !! NO3 (Nitrate) 25 - slight improvement

15 August 2005 Monday	The missing Zebra Danio and Harlequin have both turned up. One Molly dead, one other looking emaciated. Probably due to my error with the water yesterday. The fish in general look fine and healthy and also still quite active. Head count: 7 Mollies 5 Harlequins 1 Neon Tetra 1 Red Tailed Black Shark 4 Zebra Danios

16 August 2005 Tuesday	The missing Zebra Danio has disappeared again! Believed deceased! Found and removed several snails. I hope I don't get infested! One Molly dead, the one that looked emaciated now seems better (fingers crossed). Water Test Results, not sure whether I am carrying out the test correctly. pH 7.6 - 8.0 - slightly more alkaline - need to watch this! KH 15 - Unchanged GH >6 - Unchanged NO2 (Nitrite) 1 - 5 - closer to 5, could do better! NO3 (Nitrate) 25 - 50 - getting worse! Head count: 6 Mollies 5 Harlequins 1 Neon Tetra 1 Red Tailed Black Shark 3 Zebra Danios

17 August 2005 Wednesday	The orange coloured Molly still looks ill. It is the only fish not "zooming" all over the place!

18 August 2005 Thursday	Decided not to add any more chemicals to the tank for a while. Saw a single baby Molly swimming round the bogwood. Head count: 6 Mollies + 1 baby 5 Harlequins 1 Neon Tetra 1 Red Tailed Black Shark 3 Zebra Danios

19 August 2005 Friday	Full of good intentions - did nothing!

20 August 2005 Saturday	Day 20 Replaced the white filter. Changed about 25 litres of water (10%) adding 10ml of AquaSafe. Water Test Results pH 7.6 - Unchanged KH 15 - Unchanged GH >6 - Unchanged NO2 (Nitrite) 0 - Big drop! NO3 (Nitrate) 10-25 - slight improvement New... 2 Albino Corys looks like one may be injured trying to escape from the bag. It may also have injured the other Cory and the 3 Black Neon Tetra that were also in the same bag. 4 Black Neon Tetra 1 does not look well (see above) 1 DOA 9 Neon Tetra 9 Serpea Tetra The Molly that was sickly died.
