Wednesday
Interesting that I have seen a new baby Molly every couple of weeks. I have 2 males and 2 females. When I first saw the babies they are orange (like mum) but gradually lost their colour and now appear silver with a black tail fin (like dad).

Thursday
Bad news - can see algae - the yucky slime type - it is covering the tops of the other plants!

The references I found on the internet seem to indicate too much light, sunlight and/or overfeeding.

  • My lights are on 10 hours per day (2pm to 12 midnight)
  • The tank receives no direct sunlight
  • I feed little and often, but the food is always all gone within 1 minute.

I will reduce the light by an hour a day and cut down the food, and stop plant feeding!

Saturday
Day 48

A whole week with no dead Neons or other fish!

I just did a calculation on the total length of fish when adult - 295cm, this is about the limit recommended for my 300 litre tank. This assumes I don't loose any more fish and that they all grow to the max size !!

Now should I buy another tank???
