So where did the nickname SUPERPAN come from ? It's a long
involved story, but, since you selected this page, I may as well continue....
My name is Pete, and over the years have ridden and driven horses for pleasure.
I had a good friend, called Flora, who educated me on
looking after ponies and horses, particular helping me with my Hackney driving pony called
Flash, who liked to stand on two legs rather than four!
Flora also had another friend, called Peter, who collected the dung from livery
yards, put it into bags and sold it as manure for the D.I.Y. gardeners. I'm told it's
very good for roses !
Anyway, at the end of a long weekend, I visited Flora's home where her daughters
had some friends who were visiting. I was introduced to the visitors and one of then asked
whether I was the Pete that did the poo's. (For those that
don't know, poo is a polite way of saying sh*t
!)
When I told the story to Jackie, a good friend of mine, she then started calling me
Pete the poo in order to wind me up. Needless to say, this caught on with
several other friends.
A few months later, a 4 year old was visiting my house and Jackie used the phrase
Pete the poo. Of course the youngster immediately picked up on this,
but Jackie quickly explained that what she had said was Pete the Pan as in
'Peter Pan'.
Now-a-days, it's Pete the Pan when I'm good, or
Pete the Poo when I'm not !
Naturally, since I am ALWAYS GOOD, PAN has just become
SUPERPAN !.
End of Story, boring I know !
